Musically, The Chord Chrysalis has an extremely well balanced set of abilities and has had a huge influence on all the other interconnects in the Chord range. Whatever the system, Chrysalis can be relied upon to produce an entertaining and enjoyable sound.

The Chord Chrysalis cable has four separately insulated, stranded conductors inside a grey PVC jacket. Each conductor has its own lapped shield so it can be thought of as four coaxial cables inside one outer jacket.

A lapped shield means that fine copper wires are wound around the insulation surrounding the conductor in such a way that they overlap each other. This means that when the cable is bent, the shield still covers the conductor properly. The conductors are stranded oxygen free copper. Normal copper has between 500 and 750 parts per million of oxygen in its make up. This will cause the copper to oxidise and resistance to increase along the length of the cable. The lapped shield is also oxygen free copper. The insulation that surrounds the conductor is made from polyethylene. The outer jacket is grey PVC.

The Chord Chrysalis RCA cables can be recommended for use with almost all equipment. They are a good choice for home cinema systems and anyone wanting to connect a sub-woofer. Chrysalis is also a good option for anyone needing a long length interconnects as there is very little change in sound quality over substantially longer runs. Regardless of the terminations Chrysalis will sit pretty well in any system and is highly compatible with most equipment.

The design of Chrysalis cable produces a slight attenuation of treble and a slight roll-off of low bass. This causes the mid-range to be pushed forward and this emphasises the rhythm and coherence of music.
