before you commited in any purchase i want to remind that you may still able to find the replacement laser for this model, to my understanding they are no longer produced and almost impossible to get a used one! sony laser are very expensive to acquire in this model ! so before you decide please
ask around and make sure you have found one first ! otherwise you will have great pain once the player stop reading /playing by that time no replacement available ,you may consult your local SONY service centre for further technical assistance ! he Loy_hifi may know where to get those lasers but to my understanding they easily cost another 50% the price of x5000 , so the next of its kin is the x3000 in this case are better choice some online shop stock thousand of such lasers and commonly available everywhere the places!
