"..The Audion has a single, central volume pot at the front, a single line-level input at the rear (accommodating cd, dvd, iPod, PC, tape, tuner etc), some big speaker binding posts (bare wire or banana plug), an on/off switch and that's it. You have the option of using the Sterling as a power amp, or as a "straight through" integrated amp (given that it has a volume control).

Audion recommends matching the Sterling to speakers of 89dB/w/m or more and I guess this is ideal but I have successfully driven far more stubborn loads than that with excellent results.

Fit, finish and condition is lovely; the steel, cream cover plate is in top order and the satin black transformer section excellent also.  Channel outputs are evenly matched and the sound is glorious; fully-formed, even, present and totally engrossing.

Sound stage is astonishing and it deals with multiple musical genres impressively, unlike so many valve amps which are skewed, either by design or default, almost exclusively towards vocal/acoustic instrument music recordings
