DC Offset Voltage

May I get some info from all the gurus here?
I understand that it is a safety step to check
the DC offset (in mV at speaker terminals of
amplifier) prior hooking up any speaker system
for any vintage integrated amp and receiver.
However is this applicable to power amplifier?
Stereo and or mono block?
Appreciate any advise and Thanks in advance.
