Bowers & Wilkins 684 S2 floorstand speaker ( new )

Bower & Wilkins have revised their 600 line of speakers, bringing in engineering from other ranges as well as advances specific to the series. The 684 S2 is slimmer than its predecessor- thanks to 5 inch cones where previously there were 6.5 inch ones- but with improved audio performance. The two Kevlar cone drivers benefit from smaller voice coils to increase sensitivity. The 5 inch drivers feature anti-resonance plug dustcaps, technology taken from B&W's PM1 speakers, for improved pistonic movement inside the voice coil and distortion-free midrange performance.

The 684 S2 also features a decoupled double dome tweeter, brought across from the CM10 This increases tweeter rigidity for a more precise sound, while the tweeter sits in a gel-filled cavity, decoupled from the surrounding cabinet- which removes resonances and vibrations. All these new features bring a more natural, wider sound to the 684 S2
