Best match CDP with NAD C325BEE?

most of info I found said is NAD C525BEE.

friend recommend me Marantz CDP, any advise?

I have a 6 month old Rega Saturn for sale that is guaranteed to run rings around any new Marantz below RM8K to my ears*. Pls do IM me personally if interested..

Although I'm not a big fan of Marantz cdp after having owned a cdp and int. amp before, I can't say any Marantz below 8k cdp sounds not as good compared to another particular cdp.

Speaking of which, I was thinking about purchasing the NAD325BEE a month ago.

Dylan, do you mind letting me know the sound characteristics of the amp?

So far I have owned 2 NAD (515BEE and 545BEE) and 2 Marantz (6002 and 6003). They are all good entry levels but my personal preference still with the NAD.

Unlike Marantz, NAD need a bit of running time to sound like "NAD" so be patience if you don't get what you expect the first time. I knocked my head 1st time I listen to 545BEE but after 50 hours, it is the *best sounding among those 4.

i'd vote for NAD as well .... just personal preference.

i prefer vocal and musical, new age and classical. I found NAD is not so much for pop music, I play Chihiro Onitsuka on it and found the song i love become very disturbing and noisy. haha. maybe it coz by panny dvdp i using now.

but for those audiophile CD, like Emi Fujita and remaster old chinese song, Tai Chin etc, it sound great, warm. I play it with PSB B1 anyway.

Only reason I try to get NAD cdp is also both of them so work like no one else. haha.

now i hav new concern, shd I get 24bit CDP or 20bit?

to other sifu, my budget is within 1k top only. coz my ear cant different 1k cdp to 5k cdp yet. haha

NAD CDP = Warm Sonics

Marantz CDP = Funky / Jazzy Sonics

Cambridge Audio = Punchie Sonics

My taste would be for a NAD, as I am also an owner of a CDP NAD502 driven by a NAD3020.

I had pioneer A400 (enemy of audiolab 8000A.. ), out of curiosity..is it NAD cdp can match with it?
Looking for new/used cdp now...instead of using pioneer dvd 610 (got SACD...don't know what is means..guess related to cd music.. ) for music purpose..

Honestly the bits don't really matter that much as there are other equally important factors such as power supply, circuit path whether single dac or multiple configuration, etc. Trust your ears more.

HDCD (20bit) is sure detail than normal CD (16bit), never try SACD.

when my Marantz SR3001 have red HDCD logo on, the sound will go brighter. haha

Buy and try la. If your ears agreed then your search can stop for a while

tested the NAD CD player with a VTL amp to drive the ELAC 248 just now......I din know the model no as the objective is to listen to the ELAC

jaw dropping sound even the 248 are new and not run in yet....the moment the singer starts to sing, it got my attention and I stop reading the mag on some Yamaha's in A&L....

Truly dynamic, crystal clear & the bass are awesome for such a slim tower....

but when switch to try the 5.1 BD, they use the Yamaha 1065 to drive it....the sound instantly become thin and the dynamics are not there, so the ELAC will need a power amp to drive it's potential out

also, the price also jaw dropping lar :p

I believe it is well suited for your amp since it is also NAD. Then again, your ears are the best judges here.

hi guys, just found C521 have problem with CDR.. probably will go for C525BEE for rm1180.

dilemma is new release C515BEE also around this price only. C525BEE shd be at least 5 years out from factory liao, even it is NEW in store.

Spend a bit more and get 545BEE. U won't regret but put in mind unlike 515, this 545 need a bit of time to sound good. Pretty weird but yeah it is what it is.

i heard there is a 100/10 rule in HIFI world, which mean 100% additional cost only contribute 10% listening improvement.

Think of it as an S-curve....
(just choosing numbers arbitrarily here as an example)

1. from a RM500 mini compo system to a RM 2K system .. u get fundamental improvements ...

2. From a RM 2K system to a RM 20K system... very BIG improvements.

3. Going from RM20K to RM100K, Jaw dropping heart pounding MASSIVE improvements.

4. RM100K -> RM200K , ok, mebbe not so much relative improvement but still significant.

5. Rm200K -> RM500K ... Errr... got improvement lah, should be ... but not really the jaw-dropping kind... maybe just a raised eyebrow or two.

6. RM500K ->RM1Mil systems .... i would say, you're not spending money to get any sonic improvements anymore ... but more for "pride of ownership".


zone 1 to 3, its a quantum leap in sonic improvements.
Zone 3+ onwards, its the law of diminishing returns already.

haha, this is reason a poison, from secondhand rm500 to rm950, to rm1200, and now rm1500, tomorrow is rm1800, the after is rm2100 ... etc.

I believe they are using what call "JET" tweeter, a shorter form of the ribbon as compare to other.

I do not know if is the sound of the tweeter or the crystal membrane they use, the sound so open, wide, accurate and details.

But it need power to sing...
