Lexicon , Inc., a Harman International company (NYSE: HAR), offers the MV-5 Processor, an audio and video preamplifier and processor. Offering capabilities previously only available in the flagship Lexicon MC-12 HD, the MV-5 can accommodate a pair of HDMI source devices, such as a DVD player and HDTV tuner, and can connect directly to a PC via USB, enabling the control and playback of streaming audio files. With an optional dock accessory, iPod owners can even play their iPod music through the MV-5.
Lexicon created the MV-5 to provide home theater versatility and performance. The MV-5 is an 8-channel preamp/processor that supports two independent zones and, with its 12 configurable inputs, is designed to serve as the control center for a home theater system.
Features and Performance
The unit is capable of playing audio stored on computers and iPods. Users can connect a computer to the MV-5's USB port to begin enjoying their music file collections. In addition, the optional D-1 dock not only allows users to play audio files from an iPod, but also facilitates navigation of iPod menus using the intuitive remote control.
The MV-5 is the first Lexicon processor to feature integrated Faroudja video processing technology. With this video capability, the MV-5 can take any incoming video format and up-convert it to HDMI output, enabling the use of a single HDMI cable between the MV-5 and the video display. The MV-5 can also scale the video to 720p or 1080i output resolution for improved video performance from standard definition sources. To further allow video performance optimization, the MV-5 has two menu pages per input devoted solely to advanced user-adjustable video processing features, such as Faroudja's DCDi , which is designed to smooth out the jagged edges caused when video is de-interlaced. Another feature, film mode detection, automatically identifies film sources and restores the proper frame sequence. The MV-5's noise reduction feature helps to minimize the noise often contained within analog video signals.
The MV-5 Processor features the latest version of Lexicon's Logic 7 decoding, which is designed to enhance the listening experience of any type of source material.
The MV-5 features an automated procedure for use in speaker setup, which also performs system equalization. The MV-5 calibrates the system by compensating for frequency response aberrations and varied speaker performance, while balancing the entire system for the best overall results. In addition, the MV-5 is capable of storing different calibrations, so up to three different listening positions can be recalled at the touch of a button.
Other features include an RS-232 connection, a rear-panel IR input and two trigger outputs for integration capabilities in custom installations. A 7.1 channel analog input array is also included to accommodate audio sources. The MV-5 is also supplied with a universal learning remote control.
