Released in Japan in 1977 during Japan's "Golden Era" of high-fidelity audiophile equipment, the Sony PS-X9 is, simply put, a masterpiece of a turntable. The PS-X9 was originally designed for professional broadcasting, with a focus on the highest possible quality of playback. As such, it is a very rare piece of equipment, with perhaps only 2000 produced (this number is speculation). Those in exceptional condition are rarer still. The PS-X9 features a captivating utilitarian aesthetic that harks to the intention that it be used in studios and broadcasting rooms, with an oversized platter, a tactile control interface, and a body that seems suited to mounting in a professional console. The sound of the PS-X9 is regarded by listeners as being in a class of its own. Indeed, many who have heard this turntable consider it to be among the best ever produced. This unit comes with the highly-regarded Sony XL-55 Pro moving coil cartridge.

This turntable is in excellent condition, with very little sign of wear (please see photos). It has some minor and not noticeable scratches.
