Lenco PTP4 idler turntable - Full mod! Empty Lenco PTP4 idler turntable - Full mod!

Note: The tonearm and cartridge are not part of this sale. Just the turntable and its arm mounting boards!

Please read below to better understand the built up of this Lenco L75.

This fully rebuilt Lenco is from a NOS (new old stock) Lenco 75. That means its motor, spindle, bearing, idler etc. were all new and from an unused unit! Runs smoothly with quiet motor and spindle. Specially bought from Europe (specifically Italy). The new body chassis and original plinth have landed with a happy lucky person from hifi4sale here😊.

The main plinth is made from many-many layers of wood laminate. This not only filter out external vibration but also damp any internal vibration within it. This is ordered from a maker in Lithuania.

The PTP4 is of course from Peter Reinders of Amsterdam. They are made from thick 4mm stainless steel and cut to shape. This now support the motor and bearing/platter firmly unlike the original Lenco top plate.

The PTP4 is the only one that he made with the full top plate unlike the PTP5 or PTP6 which are only the central top plate.

Now the elephant in the room that many Lenco upgraders miss - the Lenco Platter. It is a substantial one piece stainless steel platter alright, but it rings like a bell! The rubber mat it provides is just not good enough. Think about it, the idler wheel is riding underneath the platter in contact with it in order to spin it. Some solve this by putting another Lenco platter on top of this platter - double Lenco platter.  Really? One just add more stress on the bearing without fully solving the ringing bell. Now we have two ringing bell coupled together.

Hence, using damped acrylic top platter sandwiched with another clear acrylic platter seems obvious. Which is what is done here. The damped acrylic platter will absorb any vibration from the bottom steel platter and also absorb vibration from the stylus passing through the top acrylic platter. By the way acrylic has the same density coefficient as vinyl record. No record mat is required for this set up!
Comes with specially made Lenco extension spindle length to cater for the much thicker overall platter.

However the tonearm boards are included. This allows the turntable to use 2 tonearms of 12" or just one as you wish. However the plinth has ready holes made for a Rega mount on the right, and a Linn mount on the left.

The plinth is vinyl wrapped which can be removed for a more elaborate polish or luxurious finish.

Power connection is via detachable cable into an IEC socket at the back.

Item is bulky. Self collect preferred.
