Re: WTB: Speaker stands
No need to say sorry. These stands are spare leftover stands after I sold off all my small bookshelves away so it's lying around at the moment. Not desperate to sell them away actually and they may come in use in the event I get another bookshelf again. By the way, what speakers are you using? Most stands have standard sizes of top plates. Cheers.

Re: WTB: Speaker stands
Hi Fizi,
I've checked on the Usher X-719 and the wood stands with stone base made a matching fit aesthetically to the speaker. The stands look a little like the original Sonus Faber Electa Amator stands and are a fashion statement. If you feel the Ushers are going to stay with you for a long time, maybe 10 years, I reckon it is more wortwhile to get the original stands even though it may cost a little bit more. I've seen the original imported PMC stands which are simpler with a tubular steel upright but cost RM2k+ and nowhere as visually striking as the Usher stands.

Dear Fizi,
Feel free to check out a new marble stand made out of a Ipoh "tiger skin" marble at only RM800:
https://www.hifi4sale.net/audio-video-equipment-for-sale-f1/solid-marble-speaker-stands-new-t1495.htm
FYI, our marble factory is in Simpang Pulai next to the road which leads up to Cameron Highlands, so it is no problem for me to deliver personally and help you position them.

What a small world!
Anyway, let me share some pics of my marble stands custom made to the size of my ProAcs. Notice how the whole set up looks like one complete speaker (similar to Sonus Fabers designs)

air-11, are those speakers Proac Tablette 50 Signature in Ebony finish? Nice system you got there. Those Proacs have excellent imaging and soundstaging. I have enjoyed these speakers when I had them in my system for 3 months.

Re: WTB: Speaker stands
Spot on!
I love these ProAcs, thus the decision to custom build the best supporting infrastructure for them.
Before this I was using SoundStyle "steel" speaker stands which failed to make my speakers shine, particularly at the lower frequencies (as expected for such a small speaker) - therefore I added the B&W 610XP subwoofer.
However with these marble stands, I could have saved a lot of money without the subwoofer. The bass now goes as low as most low/mid-range floorstanding speakers without the sub!
Ryder: I see that you have gone down the route of bookshelf + subwoofer as well, is that TWO subwoofers I see? (Very $$$ system!)

Re: WTB: Speaker stands
Hi Air-11,
Marble is a material with high density and tends to transmit very little vibration compared to steel stands so bass response will be better. That is the reason hollow steel columns are sometimes filled with sand or other inert material to mitigate sound vibration caused by resonance for improved bass response. The only disadvantage of marble or granite stands is the weight. Due to the high density of marble which is approximately 2563kg/m3, I presume one stand weighs about 60kg, so shifting it around might be little difficult. Anyway I guess that doesn't matter too much since you don't need a subwoofer with the Proacs with those nice marble stands.
I've sold my all my PMC and Proac bookshelves away and using a considerably large monitor now so I seldom use the subwoofers. Occasionally I still use the PMC sub for music while the other sub is solely for Home Theater.

Re: WTB: Speaker stands
Ryder: Spot on again on your calculations, the stands weigh about that sort of weight each. Are you an engineer / have a science background?
Not surprised that you wont need your sub as your monitor's bass driver itself is bigger than your sub!

Re: WTB: Speaker stands
Hi Naitxs,
Sorry to inform that I may be keeping both stands for the time-being. Currently I have the 18" stands supporting my omnifussor panels on the front wall. The 24" stands are still sitting around but I may have some plans for them in future. However, I will let you know if I decide to sell them.
Thanks for your interest.

Re: WTB: Speaker stands
I've a pair of 24" Focus Audio (made in Canada) 4 pillar stand going for RM500. I bought it at CND$400. Spikes for both top and bottom but some people may use blue-tac for the top for safety purposes (so that kids do not topple the speakers).
PM or call me if anyone is interested to view.
