Fake Kimber Kable
I was about to spring for a second hand speaker cable but then I came across this on the Kimber site citing suspect cable :

If u notice the watermark, he's active here. Because of this, I hesitate to close the deal on the second hand item as I cannot determine their authenticity.
Regards,
Joe Ling

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
Kimber also mentioned for 8TC, black and blue is their standard configuration. They never produced gold and red.

You could be mistaken. Kimber's latest 8TC cables are in clear & white configuration.

Our partner in Singapore is Norman Audio. Norman Audio does have a store in Adelphi. I reccomend you follow up with them. As far as the TC cable goes, black / blue was our standard configuration for many years. We have never made gold / red cable.

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
is it better for the seller to state the obvious and pre warn the buyers rather than to end up having arguements. e.g. diy cable (non stock unit)
I have come across some branded power cord ranked as reference series is selling cheaper than its entry level. How can it be.
In this case, I would rather jump for the more expensive entry series rather than cheaper reference series which would end up at the store room.

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
sskong,
Kimber was saying that they have never made gold/red cable, which is true.
To add to that, what I'm saying is that Kimber's latest config is clear/white, which is also on Kimber's website. The black/blue config is the previous version, which I do have as well.

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
Hi Joe,
I can't confirm the authenticy of the advertised cable but I have bought few high end cables from this guy before and he is reliable.
Very nice person to deal with.
I think he got 100% in ebay.

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
i think 5151 guy/gal is a "parallel importer" who brings in Kimber from SG. Maybe he/she buys from Norman SIngapore and then submarines its across the causeway? But at least the Kimbers would still be authentic. But this is just IMO... Maybe 5151 can clarify where he/she gets his stock of Kimbers.
Besides, grey mkt import is perfectly legal. Helps to contribute to market efficiencies.
If i remember correctly, it's 5151 who once gave a link on how to identify fake Kimbers vs real Kimbers. Can try to search in those older threads.
Otherwise, Kimbers are officially imported by Norman Audio, being the authorised agents for SG and MY. But since Norman Audio as no direct storefront presence in MY, their dealer network is Hiway Laser in PJ, and Maxx AV in Seremban.
I don't know if there are any other hifi/AV shops who are taking Kimber stock from Norman Singapore.

Ok noted. I just saw the pic at the kimber web site & thought ....
Aplogies if I have been over sensitive.
Maybe I'll parallel import some from partsconnexion for myself. I trust my soldering as much.

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
I believe the seller is not selling fakes, since his price is 'competitive' and the long track record. some times I wonder if it is nice to ask the seller if the items being sold is stock genuie. will it be an insult.

But how sure they are real cable? Base on the price they sells?

Re: Fake Kimber Kable
Hi everyone,
I just came back from K.L and saw this thread after a few days absence from this forum.
Usually I prefer not to engage in any forum argument, but as this affects my integrity, so I'll have to write something.
Yes, the picture was from me. In fact, I knew they used my picture in their blog, and had contacted them regarding this matter. Unfortunately, and expectantly, they deleted my entry completely, without a single response.
However, I've saved a snapshot of my original entry, as follows:

Below are the chronological order of the event:
- Before setting their blog, they wrote to me asking about details of my supplier
- I couldn't disclose the details as it would cause trouble to my supplier, and needless to say, my business too.
- Nothing happened since, until they set up their blog
- In their blog, they use one of my pictures and 'crown' it as fake
- Feeling angry and disappointed, I wrote to them (politely, of course) about it and appealed for my picture to be removed.
- No response at all
- I posted a comment on their blog, asking for my picture to be removed. (see picture attached above)
- Again, no response at all, and they even deleted my entry.
- Out of wit... can't do anything... :-(
I've written to my customers on ebay, asking if they've sent in their cables to Kimber for verification, and the answer was non at all.
Since there was non, how could they firmly conclude that my cables were fake, but at the same time, on April 27, they wrote in their blog: "The only way to verify is to send the cables in".
Anyway, I'll write to them once again, and hope justice will prevail this time.
Now, this is the important bit, to you, my customers:
If you can prove that any of the cables you've bought from me, not only Kimber, but other brands too, are fake, drop me a note and I'll give you a full refund.
This applies to all purchases made in the past too!
Last but not least, I'd like to take this opportunity to declare that, I DO NOT SELL FAKES
Thanks for reading. Cheers
