I'm told the Evolution 5350 is quite a step up from the Evo 2, just as the Destiny is from the 5350 ... using the 5350 to drive a pair of Apogee Centaur Minors now; so far haven't heard anything I didn't like ...

Got both the Maggies and Apogees, bro ... the Apogee's ribbons are definitely purer sounding that the Maggies' quasi ribbons. There is much to like about both Maggies and Apogees, and little to dislike once you've set them up and matched them well ...

yes, there is indeed much to like with planars. Can't go back to boxed speakers now... or as i read in a forum dedicated solely to planars, ''monkey coffins'' someone called them!!

Cheers!
Thanks for all the yummy reviews!

On the subject of plannars, I tried THREE times, yesterday was the third try, to make the time to go over to Summit to listen to the Eminent Technology LFT-1 but once again something came up last minute and I couldn't go. Again. I am not a terribly superstitious guy but I think three times is enough la, must be someone above telling me "don't go !" Laughing So I will not make a special effort anymore, if I happen to be there, I will drop in to have a listen, but no more trying to specially go just for the audition. Laughing

Haiyah, KN, don't make excuses, lah, you know if you go and listen, you'll be tempted to buy ... so it's just your inbuilt anti-poison mechanism coming up with excuses!! lol!

On another note, I'm moving away from conditioners and filters, it seems. The Creek is playing with a Marantz DV7001 and Elipson Planet L spherical speakers. Amp and player plugged into one of Adrian's custom "extension" outlets, into the wall outlet, standard 13A one. Nothing is getting in the way, it seems to me ... enjoying ... looks like my AC at home is less variable and cleaner since TNB did their upgrade works outside last week.

Bassraptor, I think you are just hearing the effects of an un-restrainted power supply. You have one of those 4kVA PT isn't it ? You should try it. Better still, modify it to our specs and you will hear loads of improvement.

KN: Yes, Adrian is going to upgrade my seasoned PT in stages. Currently, the Odyssey/Ayon/Maggies are plugged into it. The Creek based one, no PT or filters, just the extension, to hear what the amp can do without help. Impressed so far....

Mugen: We just love power ....
