Quality of sound after speaker driver being repair
I would like to know would there be a sound quality drop after the speaker driver being repaired ?
Anybody knows what is the reason that cause mid bass driver faulty ? I'm using a tube amp and sometimes when it heat up, it cause some sparkling sound when the volume being adjust.
Any advise ?

Re: Quality of sound after speaker driver being repair
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
Yes - since the replacement speaker driver would need time to break-in. If the crossover components are changed to a different manufacturer/specs, they may also contribute to a "different" sound.
My experience with mid-bass drive failure was due to a DC voltage passing from the amp terminal output to the speakers due to the PSU caps leaking and failed. The electrolyte from the cap may may have caused a short to the speaker output with a DC source. DC voltage fries the speakers coil. Having a DC voltage below 0.5VDC at the speaker output is generally acceptable. In theory, since you are using a tube amp with an output transformer, the DC voltage at the speaker terminals should be near zero.
Also, the rating of the driver should match the power rating of the amp. The speaker output actually generated a high amperage to drive the speaker (e.g. a 50W/channel amp can generate upto 2.5Aon a 8ohm speaker at peak load).
My experience with DIY pre-amps using stepped attenuators that causes sparkling sound when volume is adjusted. This was caused by the grounding of the volime control - fix that a nd the sparkling sound would go away. Maybe RCA connections or speaker connections not secure or oxidised?

You can bring it to me to check if you are in Ipoh. Cheers.. many cause for sparkling, bias not properly setup, too high V + , volume pot contact..etc

Re: Quality of sound after speaker driver being repair
if it is a tube amp, your speaker always "protected" by the output transformer.
It will not have any DC in rush current like what you face in solid state amp.
However, if the sparkling is due to high V+ or impropriate tube bias, you will cook the tube and it RIP much more sooner than it shud..

Very likely the volume pot is not good, since you mentioned "it cause some sparkling sound when the volume being adjust. "
