Re: 5881 tube aquivalent replacement
Hi fizi,
As I am a tube guitar amp nut and I can say that us guys sometimes swap a 5881 tube for the 6L6GC, when a 6L6GC isn't available.Works fine for us.We guys have been experimenting with various power tubes.Guitar amps have been using these tubes you listed since the 1950's.They made great stuff back then.
Some musicians report a slightly higher gain, others say it did'nt.
Works for the Fender range of tube guitar amps and some others, but I'm not so sure of this in a tube hifi amp enviroment.
There may be issues on current draw, gain and biasing(if any).
Again, I'm no pro on tubes, and maybe some other sifus can help.
Check out the characteristics of both tubes online.Pleeeeeeeenty of resources online for that.Makes good reading & very2 educational.
Welcome to the wonderful world of tubes!!!!!!
Hang in there.Help is on the way.
