Hi Teleman, you are right!!! Those tubes you mentioned are the same as 6J1. I have found some cross reference too like the Philips 6922, Western Electric 403B, M8100, 6DJ8....
Thank you...
Just do not know where to get those in KL only???

Re: 6J1 vacuum tube equivalent replacement
Well BrAvo,
I'm sorry to say that there i'snt a chance in hell of getting this tube in KL.
I suggest you go online to www.tubesandmore.com if you are really serious about it.
They have got nearly every tube that was ever made in stock.Prices are quite fair and they sell some really good stuff other than tubes.I have dealt with them over the years and have found them trustworthy & willing to help us tube freaks out.
I have spent thousands of $$ buying for myself and my kaki and never had any problems with them.Try e-mailing steve@tubesandmore.com he'll be glad to help.
I have my own small collection of tubes but not the one you're looking for.Mine are mostly for guitar amps.
Wish I could be of more help.
Cheers & good luck on your hunt

Bravo,
Getting it for your Yaqin Buffer is it?
Got the MUllards Cv4010/M8100 and the Western Electric 403B off from Ebay. Cheap and good.

Re: 6J1 vacuum tube equivalent replacement
Hi Fizi, I am yet to received the stocks from USA, i think it might take at least 10 days to arrived here by USPS First Class Mail International not those Fedex...
The total cost for these matched pair of tube is USD39.99 (with free 4pcs of tube dampers), postage at USD9.55. All paid by PayPal at RM185.38 (Hope custom will not impose tax on it)
This is my first experience buying from ebay too, it's fun.

Re: 6J1 vacuum tube equivalent replacement
HI fizi ,
The tube model is Siemens 5654,
I change the tube together with silver interconnects and supra power cord.
I noticed more warm and detail sound.
I plan to upgrade the capacitor with elna audio cap hopefully more deep bass like tube amp.
Which shop provide the elna cap in malaysia? I normally order from octave.

Re: 6J1 vacuum tube equivalent replacement
Emm.... does new tubes need to be run in? After installing the 6AK5, what i notice is the seperation has been improved, slightly wider soundstage, vocal more control but not forward as mentioned in some review. Bass is good & firm.
Maybe I will need to run the tube for another few days to hear it's full performance......

Re: 6J1 vacuum tube equivalent replacement
I just received another tube GE 6AK5 for my Yaqin 6J1,
after ten hours burn in the sound improved more detail & more musical, I like it more musical (like mullard/telefunken tube).
My backup/spare siemens tube sold out,
now I want sell my used siemens tube for Yaqin 6J1,
price RM100 only plus postage.

Several you can try
6AK5, 5654, EF95 are options.BrAvO wrote:Anyone know is there any cross reference tube to replace the 6j1?
I don't believe there is any modifications needed when rolling to these, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I am interested in trying these as well in my I Little-Bear P5 that I assume is similar or copy of a Yaqin 6J1. I has two BK 6J1's. Must be very low filament power as transformer included is tiny for any tube amp I've seen. But it was a starter, as I am very familiar with older tube devices.. AS in, I used to CB radio, and all my later CB's where valves. I even had a couple of tube radio's, TVs, and amps in my days. Many with the same tubes and circuits that current audio amps have. As in, 12AX7, 12AU7, 6L6', 300B's.
I have heard that the Mullards are good as well as some of the NOS AN' types' which the later are military tubes.
I have heard also that the JAN 5654W is an excellent option, but would love to hear others who have tried them response to that.
I think what's gotten me back into tubes again, is the crappy sound that newer CD's these days have.
It's like their turning them out without ever listening to them. Compressed and smashed to hell to get it as loud as they can. No dynamics, and maybe it the result of some of the crappy audio gear most folks play them on. Tiny units with as many transistors IC's, and chips as they can miniaturize and cram in to play music on.
Well I like portable as much as anybody. But when I am serious about what I want to here.. Give me some big
awesome heavy metal, Glass, hand wired beast with that oh so cool glow in the dark sweetness of a tube amp.
