The Wonder of Modern Jazz (Audiophile Grade) Lot of 4 Packaged! New! (SOLD!) Quarts10

All Recordings are Studio Recorded at the some of the most prestigious audiophile studios, and mastered at best location possible
by these very reputable audiophile labels.

The Performers, Truly do not need an introduction for those who are in the know, however for those who have been stuck in the
classic range of Prestige/Impulse schematic -this lot will surprise you of the stellar talents and how jazz is evolved over the years.
Even Ballads played here are truly exceptional, offering refined arrangements, which will open you up to a new world of jazz music.

1.Jane Ira Bloom - Might Lights (Enja Records - Made in Switzerland)
A Beautiful Sounding Soprano Saxophonist exhibits her mellifluous tone on the horn, with witty craft of excellent composing ability and
ultimately being backed by who's who in jazz, the Legendary Charlie Haden on Bass, Fiercely competent Fred Hersch on Piano and the usually overjoyed Drummer Ed Blackwell.

2.Mark Shim - Mind Over Matter (Blue Note - Made in U.S.A)
Mind Over Matter is a thoroughly impressive debut effort from Mark Shim, suggesting that he's one of the more interesting post-bop saxophonists to emerge in the late '90s. Supported by pianist Geri Allen, guitarist David Fiuczynski, bassist Curtis Lundy and drummers Eric Harland and Ralph Peterson, Shim plays a set of originals punctuated by a cover of Mingus' "Remember Rockefell at Attica" and a Lundy tune. His compositional skills are impressive, especially when his young age is factored into the equation. But what really impresses are Shim's muscular, robust tone and the way he not only holds his own with Allen and Fiucynski, but also makes his unpredictable twists and turns sound natural. It's a first-rate debut from a promising young saxophonist.

3.Scott Hamilton - Jazz Signatures (Concord Jazz Made in U.S.A)
True to form and expressions, but super refined in arrangement long time Tenor Man, Scott Hamilton never fails to deliver with every
record, a late night disc with specially arranged repertoire on songs written by Dave Brubeck,Billy Strayhorn,Tadd Demeron and Benny Goodman along with many famous composer's who stand nailed till date for their repertoire,
Carter's "When Lights are Low" is particularly enjoyable, great sound, warm music , good price - what do you need?

4.Jonny King - The Meltdown (Enja Records Made in Germany)
We will say less on this and let the master's from all over the world speak the glory of "Jonny King and "The Meltdown"

"King...is rising quickly. A fast, articulate player whose roots trace to both Bud Powell and McCoy Tyner, he invest every track with a solid piano-based rhythmic drive and harmonic foundation. The tunes are consistently provocative...and filled with startling twists and turns in virtually every piece...the album is performed with an attractive, innate feeling of musical enthusiasm."
Don Heckman, LA Times

"Pianist and composer King defies neat classification since his eclectic stylings open the spectral varieties of versatile expression."
Ron Welburn, JazzTimes

"Pianist and composer Jonny King has come up with a winning sequel to last year's Notes From the Underground...King, heard in a larger, more percussive setting this time out, makes the sort of logical-yet-edgy postbop you'd expect from a brainy guy who's in touch with his feelings."
Gene Kalbacher, CMJ Music Report

"King who just released a strong album , is a prime exponent of the mainstream in jazz. His compostions, unusual in their structure, force improvisers to think."
Peter Watrous, The New York Times

"Like King's two earlier CDs - "The Meltdown" features mostly well-crafted originals by the leader, who successfully melds a modern dissonant edge with compelling lyricism. Here though, the tunes are even a shade warmer...This is easily his best record..." Zan Stewart, Stereophile

STELLAR CAST including a Special Appearances by Tenor Saxophonist David Sanchez.
Steve Wilson on Alto and Soprano Sax and Steve Davis on Trombone,Larry Grenadier on Bass, Milton Cardona Congas & Percussion, Billy Drummond on Drums!
