High Voltage Latin Jazz (Audiophile) - Lot of 3 (2 New/Sealed and 1 Very Lightly Used) SOLD! Thank You! Highvo10

"Unleashing three variants of different idioms found in the sub-gene of Latin Jazz, High Voltage - Not for the faint
hearted, horn loaded salsa extravaganza on Alex Wilson's Anglo Cubano which features who's who in the Cuban Percussive
Society, a latin arrangement of Sting's 'An English Man in New York Easily steals the show, Pancho Sanchez, the legendary
Latin Percussionist joins forces with Mongo Santamaria to that is sure to rattle the baffle, Gonzalo Rubalcaba turns his piano
into a latin american canvas to paint a beautiful picture on how Latino and Jazz can merge, in a versatile but divine way,
using his well horned Piano Trio comprising of Carlos Henriquez on Bass and Ignaccio Berroa on Percussion and Drums,
with a Trio of well seasoned latin musicians on conga, timbales and rainmakers" - Quinta Ruban

1.Gonzalo Rubalcaba Trio - Supernova (Blue Note Records - Made in U.S.A)
For those who prefer their Latin jazz to lean a bit more heavily to the jazz side, Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba ranks among
the best of the modern composer/arrangers, with a style that pays tribute to the African, Caribbean, and European influences of his native country while updating them for today's jazz audience. Though nowhere near as traditional as, say, Buena Vista Social Club, Supernova is far more true to his Cuban heritage than anything he's recorded before, with compositions that run the gamut from cool and smooth to blazing hot.

The opening "Supernova 1," for instance, unveils a complex, syncopated theme, then allows each member of the trio to strut their stuff before breaking it all down with dazzling stop-start time signatures that shift constantly. "El Cadete Constitucional" -
a stately walk composed by Rubalcaba's grandfather a century ago, then rewritten as a silly children's song ("Be kind to your web-footed friends...") is reinvented with a funky strut in its step, while straightforward ballads like "Alma Mia" help to show the nimble pianist's
emotive range. This is a wonderful album of varying moods and textures, establishing Rubalcaba as one of the finest jazz artists of his generation.New/Sealed.

2.Alex Wilson - Anglo Cubano (Candid Records - Made in England)
Pianist,Composer, The English Ambassador to the Latino World, This is Alex Wilson's second album that was recorded in Cuba
a project aimed to combine like-minded musicians from both the UK and Cuba to create one sound that could be called
'Anglo-Cubano.'Both Cuba and the UK have rich untapped resources of Jazz, Latin and World musicians largely overlooked by the
mainstream music industry so Alex was particularly happy to have the opportunity to showcase just some of these outstanding artists, feautring the legendary percussion group Clave Y Guanguanco, this is Jazz meets various Latin musical forms found in Cuba,
Highly Danceable, High Voltage album Fantastic Sound Quality by Candid Records home to great artistes like Jamie Cullum and
Stacey Kent.

* The Cd Above (Alex Wilson) has garnered not so welcomed marks, since we do not play Cds from our warehouse, there might have
been a few shipping issues which has left marks on the Cd (reverse) that does not effect the play at all, tested and re-tested, no issues!

3.Pancho Sanchez - Conga Blue (Concord Records - Made in U.S.A)
Phew! The conga drum chair was always the position of honor in Cal Tjader's Latin-jazz band. In 1975, California's Poncho Sanchez took
over the chair and held it until Tjader died in 1982. Since then, Sanchez has emerged as one of the top congueros and bandleaders in the genre, because he has synthesized the styles of all his predecessors into a sound that is more fluid than frenetic, more melodic than manic. No one influenced him more than Santamaria, and Sanchez's fifteenth album as a leader reunites the mentor and protégé on
half of the 10 tracks.
The horn and piano parts are respectable if not special, but the real action is in the percussion section, where student and
teacher remind each other of the many ways to chop up a measure of music, EXCELLENT sound and mastering by Concord Records.
