Re: Malaysia - Negeri Sembilan Audiophiles Group
Hi cyh and rsbn,
I am pleased that you would be kind enough to bring in your mighty TL50+, so we have 2 amps including the AN OTO SET Signature.
I will bring Tannoy Mini Autograph & Rogers 60th Anniversary with me.
Looking forward to it.
Jo

Danny have suspected that the s6 v2 are not well run in. He was told that the speakers are demo units. And because of that, as you maybe suggesting, it may not be a fair shoot out. Having said that, the 'blind' test primary reason was to hear the difference between the 2 pairs. And..... I have indicated to the 'panel' that the transparency & tonality of paradigm is what i like. In fact I felt it was the best with the oto. However with the Krells I felt the triangle did better. In the context of this shoot out, i felt the triangle was a better all rounder. Maybe it was well run in? Maybe paradigm was not run in? Maybe the electronics partners were not good match? Maybe...whatever..I have also indicated IMHO and my opinions is not necessary what the 'panel' thought. I'm not a reviewer, maybe I don't know how to express my views well and the 'fairness' of it all i may over look. If I offended anyone with my rants, my apologies. I'm sure you know Danny better than me, maybe you can ask him what transpired? I dunno who you are but I'm sure you know the paradigm better than me. There are alot Fridays coming up and.....I like to move on.

If I may add just a little bit more...
The test is to find out the preference of each individuals rather than pointing out which is the winner. Each speakers have their own pros and cons.

Then, the main course would be your Mini Autograph and Roger 60th Anniversary. Any other 'desserts', 'side orders', etc?
Btw, the 'side orders' ain't those teh tarik, roti 4 segi, etc from nearby mamak restaurant. That would have to wait til the 90minutes match at Wembley ended (I think got injury time lah)

From previous Friday, TL50+ needs at least a half hour warm up time.

We have a 'gate crasher'! Probably 2 'wild menu' (instead of wild card). I think the injury time need to extend to about 30minutes. May The Force be with you.
If can't finish, shall we continue on Sat afternoon since there might be guests from PJ poison den?
Mr 'Man In The Mirror' is going to bring his Italian beauty, right?

Any more photos for us to drool on?

Photos? Hmm.... No money for a DSLR as we have dumped all the money on these toys. The dim light is a problem to take photos. However, we will use digicam for this Friday Classic Special.

Don't worry, bro. 'Menu' will be shown soon. We were given some sneak peak last week.
I can't wait to experience the vintage Brit together with the French Lady. Looks like it's gonna be fun. Before that, there will be Brits with Brits and maybe followed by Japanese with the Brits. Possibly, an American will just walk in and provide some fireworks as well. Heheheheheheh...

Yes, it is the €12,000 Tulip. But, we will not be pitting it against the Classic as it would not be a fair comparison. Perhaps we should try to get McIntosh pre & power or maybe Meishu lah. Anyone?
One thing for sure is that we are going to pit it against the resident pre/power units and OTO SE (as pre) with a power amp (have to send out e-pigeon to Tubey Wong)

We will not be using the Tulip due to time constraint for this coming Premier League.
This coming 'Special Classic' priority on Jo Ki's 60th Anniversary LS3/5A, Tannoy Mini Autograph, TL-50, Italian pre, 'Return Of The Jedi', and what else? Tubey Wong going to bring his tube power amp?
Btw, cuci mata a bit :

The 'menu' will be simplified since the list is getting longer and longer. Not encouraged to have leftovers or unfinished dishes.
The main course will be the Autograph Mini, Rogers 60th Annv and the Jedi's partner. Already planned which amp to use.
Hopefully, it will be a bread + butter session for everyone!!

I guess not. We shall discuss abt it when we meet up. Don't want to let the cat out.
Should be usual time. However, we might have dinner with Jo next to Wembley if he could reach early. I'll let Mr Pepper & Bread know if Jo can make it on time. Fill up the tank before kick-off
I was told that the 1st squad is moving in to Wembley today. How about your Italian beauty?
Btw, who else is joining? Mr Wilson Audio and Mr JBL?

This is Foundation Designer II stands famous for its use for LS3/5A. The "F" marks the logo of the very name.
Mine comes in its original box for both of the speakers that I am going to bring. Both of the speakers have not been used at all in the recent 2 years; especially the Mini Autograph. It has only clocked up less than 100hrs.
So we shall see how they fair.

cyh quickly went in to audition Mini Autograph while we were having our fish porridge dinner
1st on the dish was the Tannoy Mini Autograph. This is very cute and beautifully finish. Really a looker.
Cham also listened to a few songs with it before heading back to his hometown.
This is for the fun part and no one dare to go thru the 'balance' test

It used to be the elevated XLO Pro highway.
I just realized that the Belden speaker cables we used for the whole night matched well with the equipments.
And also stunned that even a pair of grilles can create huge differences to a pair of LS3/5a.

I would like to thank everyone for great music listening session last night especially Max and Ben for the hospitality, and not forgetting the delicious fish porridge!
I also enjoyed the company and glad to have met, Car O Scope, CYH, Cham, DIY guru among few old friends; I realised that I can recognized all of you lot, mostly from my past years doing KLIAV Shows... Good to see you all.
Of all the speakers we listened to, I like Rogers 60th Anniversary the least! It was just sounded too tight and not really open up like the rest in the set-up that night. I love the sound of Triangle Quartet, I am sure this will be a crown puller for the coming show.
Thank you all,
Jo Ki

Max & COS,
Many thanks for the hospitality yesterday evening. I apologise for the last minute change of plans and am grateful that you guys accomodated us.
From what I heard yesterday evening, I am happy and feel that you guys will NOT be humiliated at the end of this month. In fact based on last year's show, I think you guys stands a good chance to 'mix it up' with the top guys at the show. Of course cannot be over-confident la, and expect things like 'best sound of the show' and so forth. But I feel you should impress a lot of visitors, based on SQ from the price and quality level of the system you plan to display and play at the show. Keep it up guys !

Hey guys,
Out of curiosity, do you think the speakers placement are too far apart from each other? I thought especially mini or small standmount speakers need to place closer to work coherently?
Any summarized views on those speakers performing on the stage, apart from a little comment by Joki.
Hmm, WongKN has talked bout mixing with top-guns in the show. Hope this fever will go on even after the show.
Cheers

Re: Malaysia - Negeri Sembilan Audiophiles Group
My comment about mixing with top-guns is meant to say that in the forthcoming KLAVS, it is expected that several dealers will be bringing in their top-of-the-range components for display and playing. Against illustrous companies like that, a couple of 'young upstarts' might seem to be a bit out of place. Will they be drowned in a sea full of 'big fish' ? Well the biggest strength of these two guys are that they are humble and willing to learn. From personal experience from yesterday evening, IMHO, they will -not- drown at the KLAVS. In fact, there is a chance they can establish themselves as capable of giving very respectable sound indeed. I think given an open mind, visitors to their room might be pleasantly surprised and would think it a worthwhile visit. Of course, expectations have also to be set right la.
