power cable burn in...question
Guys, guys,
got a quick question for you. If i wanted to burn in a power chord, and i used it to connect a power amp, would it be ok to just keep the amp on for the required time period, or will i actually need to play music thro the system?
many thanks!

Re: power cable burn in...question
My humble suggestion, maybe just plug the power cord to a PC or others that uses IEC and let it burn in there first. Then only move it back to the amp.
Best I heard is Thermo Pot, as it run continuosly and rumour has it the water taste sweeter with nice warmth to it. Some complaint it taste too clinical on the wrong power cord.....

Re: power cable burn in...question
You should plug it into your amp, play a few reference tracks, get acquainted with the sound, then stick it into the rice cooker or kettle or PC or whatever heck it is you're gonna use as your burning in mule.
Then you can bunk or de-bunk the myth of burning in... when you return to those reference tracks post rice cooking/water boiling...
...or you can just leave it in the amp and savour the changes as the power cord develops and flexes its muscles before maturing into the full blossom component it's meant to be...

Be careful with running in the power cord with your Thermo Pot or cooking appliances ... could get too much bass or treble or grain in your food, or not enough.
...But seriously, some burn-in advocates say do it with music ..

Re: power cable burn in...question
I kind-a knew the answers you are giving my friends, perhaps i should re-phrase, if i just kept the power amp on, but not run any music thro it, (cd player off, dac off, pre-amp off... just the power amp turned on), would the power cable connected to the power amp still undergo a burn-in?

Re: power cable burn in...question
If only amp on & no signal passing - then not much power draw - depends on the design - then not much effect is there ? Just speculating...

I truly believe using Frank Zappa's Jazz From Hell will burn in any kind of cables. If you believe that...than you should be glad you didn't give away that disc...
