Re: WTB: Blank TYPE II or IV cassette tapes
another rare cassette lover.....going to be tough cos i've been going round wiping off the music shops stocks for some time now. Try Victoria Music Centre, they still have some Type II & some excellent Type I but not cheap. Type IV even rarer still. U can get some lower grade Type II (Maxell UD II) from some music shops in northern states. But u better hurry b4 I again start my buying mission. haha...as for Type IV there's only very little stocks I managed to find from a shop in sim lim square,SG & cheap.
Btw what deck r u using? Taping from cds or lps?

Re: WTB: Blank TYPE II or IV cassette tapes
Thanks for the response, boxer.
I've seen a few Type I in a few shops, have yet to see type II and IV.
Looks like its gonna be another item in my 'wanted' list when I am visiting SG soon..
I recently acquired a mint condition Nakamichi DR-3 deck,on top of an existing Teac and a twin deck Pioneer, have been playing a fair amount of my cassette based collection.. am taping from LPs and CDs just for nostalgic purposes in the car (very 'retro')or when I am busy doing my DIY stuffs, I just need a 'background music'..
I better start looking before your next buying mission!
Thanks again.

try getting a 3 head deck, 'usually' its superior to a 2 head one (DR3 is a two header) in recording & playback duties. Most importantly is u can monitor the recording off-tape...

Re: WTB: Blank TYPE II or IV cassette tapes
boxer,
I had waited for a long time to own a Nakamichi, the chance arrived in the form of a two head DR-3! Although a three header would be nice in terms of having the ability to monitor the recording off-tape, but the DR-3 is not a bad performer considering it has a 20-20k freq. response on Type I tapes. Read from some reviews that it can actually beat some 3 header decks in sonic performance. So, the off the tape monitoring is a feature I can live without lah..considering the price I paid for it, it's a steal. Have tried recording on a Type I tape, pretty good actually and when played in the car, I was happy. It's just that I simply prefer the sonics Type II and IV tapes in my system, hence the posting.
Thanks to steve and yf9234 for the response
