wtb blank open reel tape

anybody have blank open reel tapes ....especialy treadmarks AKAI. or whatever

How does these open reel drives sound compared to vinyl and CD ?
What model are you using ?
Are there many other open reel users in Malaysia / Singapore ?

Since u in Johor go to Skudai Parade,they is one vintage hifi shop selling NOS open reel tapes at RM80 per piece brand - QUANTARAY...they is various brands like Scotch,BASF,Maxell,TDK..etc etc...is quite difficult to get blank reel tape in our market ( this shop only open on weekend and open after 1pm )

I dont think AKAI produce blank reel tape..they only produce metal or plastic reel for their AKAI reel to reel player...even my self also dont have the AKAI reel...im so lucky to get 4 units of NOS SONY metal reel in Penang....other alternative u can find it in ebay but the price is quite hi...

Hi Carz...is quite difficult to explain when compare the sound with vinyl...Most of the recording studio using reel tape as master copy before transfer it to reel tape or vinyl for consumer used.Im using reel player to record my favorite song from vinyl and play it again via reel player...The sound quality will exactly the same with vinyl..

As usual the more hi end product like turntable..reel to reel player or cd player will give better result

I Have in my collection a few hundred of these reel to reel tapes. These tapes are for my Akai M8 reel to reel player. Some are original pre recorded, some used Ampex blank tapes and 3 new in unopened box Ampex tapes. Don't know if these are the tapes you are looking for.
