Hi everyone. Just need some input if to sell or keep? I purchased this original cremona floorstander locally a few years back with the intention of finally setting it up one day. Day n years go by, always with other things/hobbies coming first. Recently, given a chance to buy a more "so call" higher end speakers, i gave in n took the plunge. Now my dilemma is, i will have 2 pairs of Nos speaker in a box doing nothing. Reason i bought the second so called "Higher end speakers" is because the offer is too good to pass on. I currently have another 2 pairs of speakers that i listen to when i feel like it which is few n far in between. Some friends have told me to keep while others say, sell n let someone else really enjoy the product. I know that if i decide to sell, it would be almost impossible to get another "FS" Nos original Cremona. What attracted me to sonus faber in the first place is the woodwork n finish, as i collect (among other things)woodwork , especially very very old teak. I wouldn't know how it sounds but reading what other owners/reviews have to say, i think it should sound as well as it looks. Btw, friends n family say i m a hoarder, buy n keep. Feelers please. Thanks in advance n sorry for being long-winded. Cheers Question Question

Cremona, what you're telling us is perhaps more evident than what you're asking. Will let the experts answer you.

Have a friend who lives overseas who also hoards. I tell him life is fragile and for all you know one day the kids may just donate it to Salvation Army to make space :-)

Post by ryder Thu Nov 03, 2011 10:45 am

Sometime back in 2004 or 2005, an audio store was selling a pair of used SF Grand Piano Concerto and Extremas. I bought the Grand Pianos and informed my friend from Singapore about the Extremas who came down to Klang Valley to buy them. At that time, the prices were pretty low. Now in 2011, the prices have shot up quite high, unbelievably. Since the Extremas are quite rare in the used market, owners and/or dealers tend to mark up the price quite a bit.

The Extremas can go loud so the more power you can give them the better. Folks usually use high powered amps >200W or monoblocks. 15'x20' is a good size for the Extrema. So the height to the ceiling is 15'. The room certainly has a high ceiling.

Sound is smooth, dynamic and punchy. Not as colored as the lower models of the SF line. Pretty good for all types of music.

At an RRP of RM4290.00 or so, the Exposure 2010s2 punching out an awesome 75 watts of PRAT works extremely well with the Toy Towers... One might even go so far as to declare them a synergistic fit...

Denon is neither Brit nor Italian ... Razz

Don't forget some American cable along the way also.

It's actually quite international !

Hai To All Sonus Faber Users,

I am seriously considering to start an AV set then add an audio amp later. I intend to start with the 5.1 Toy series speakers (Tower, Centre & Surround). Suggestion was to have an Onkyo TX-NR808 AV amp.

Welcome suggestions on the sub-woofer, speakers cables and interconnects (with est. price if possible).

Be sure to get an Audio amp that will have an AV bypass function so you can get all that processed sound being amplified by a decent amplifier through your very decent speaker choice.

I'm using Toy Towers as my main audio speakers and find them fast, dynamic and providing a lot of useful bass.

For Home Theater bass, you should check out Rhythmik Audio, apparently it's bang for buck and very shiok. There's usually an ad for it at the top right of the page of this forum.

And oh, interconnects for a decent home theater, you might want to consider XLO Electric, they have dedicated interconnects for home theater. Their speaker cables are excellent too, but expensive.

The Toy Tower retails for around 11k, from memory.

No, my Exposure doesn't have an AV facility, but the 1010 does, and it's the entry level Exposure integrated amplifier.

Avatar2882, Proac Ref 8 sig. This is an addition. Thought i like a second pair with opposing characteristics, something slower and warmer. The proacs are champions at imaging, lean and accurate. Just wondering i will encounter boomy bass in my limited enclosure with the sonus.

Hi Jedi

Will keep in mind the amp.

Hi Ongaaron,

Yeah, Proac 8 is good so I gather. Kindly let me know when you have both pairs. Would be an 'ear opener' to hear them all.

Btw, anyone knows of a power condition that works and does not cost much, say around RM1k?

Any opinion on fllg used items:

a) power conditioner

b) interconnects

c) speaker cables?

If sf is warm, to add some live to is, what do you all think of the fllg QED cables:

a) QED Perf HDMI-E (SS) 3D video

b) QED Ref Audio 1 (some silver) or Perf Audio 2 (copper) interconnect

c) QED Ref Sub-woofer cable

d) QED Silver Anni XT speaker cable.

Tq very muchie.

I'm a big fan of XLO interconnects, they give speed and dynamics a real boost. The QED Silver Anni XT speaker cables are quite good for the money, I have a pair of those.
