Entry Level Speakers Empty Entry Level Speakers

Post by speedrider Fri Jun 06, 2014 11:00 am

Hi,

I'm new with vinyls. Looking for an entry level (and cheap) speaker setup.
My budget for now is below RM1,000.00. Most of my vinyl collections are rock and pop category.

My current setup:
Kenwood P-100
Technics SL-B202
Sony HiFi (using phono, tape deck and the speakers) - forgot the model number
Monarch Series 8 Model 80 amp

Will anybody give me tips or recommendation? Thank you

Hi Speedrider,
You can try the Pioneer famous SP-BS22LR. Most likely can find at Sen-Q or Senheng. Should be around 500~600++.

Or you can look at Aune X3, someone selling at Lelong, I believe around 600++ also. But this baby is a single driver full range.

From what I suspect, neither of these speakers will give u the ultra warm lumpy bass u used to from your Sony Hifi Smile, which is a good thing right?

Thank you, will try to find it.

Yes, for now, the HiFi speakers working great, especially when playing Rock and Grunge. For jazz, pop and classic musics, the clarity quite low due to the bass (I think)

Hi speed rider,
Forget about getting into vinyl. Just get a reasonable 'lifestyle' system. And just buy music or even get into Spotify. Life would be so simple and nice. :-)
Regards.
P/s- btw, as for the vinyl, pm me here and I get it off your hands.

Agreed with david&david, stay away from vinyl if possible and for a cheap but really good I strongly recommend the purchase of active speakers (I am the biggest supporter of these speakers) - you can try typing www.mmo.net.my to view the cheap but good Behringer speakers or others -under RM1000. Active makes perfect sense engineering wise and the market is much bigger than domestic Hi Fi. Think studios, PA systems, etc.

Also, have please have a listen to them before deciding - don't take my word for it. The best part of active is that you do away with those awful boxes of integrated amp(s), wires, players, etc. I will gladly challenge any other system using passive systems regardless of price.
