Re: H4S Hi-Fi Gallery - The Fun Corner
After spending the past 2.5 months moving and re-setting up my hifi, I have settled with the arrangement below accept for my power amp. The A3CR is under evaluation and also waiting for M6 PRX.
The speaker arrangement is a bit unorthodox but I found my sweet spot with this set up. A bit difficult to get the stereo imaging spot on with symmetrical arrangement.
I have a spare 32" TV and a Sony DVD player, hence put it there as well for watching concert DVDs.

ckgnoh, actually is it gnoh or ngoh ? Anyway, my stance is there is no 'guru' in this forum. Even our very knowledgeable forumers here (they know who they are) never claims to be a guru themselves and they all openly says they look forward to learning new things. So don't worry about guru no guru and all that stuff. Gist is, you do have a nice nick !!

Hi Nil,
I am no guru. As far as I know, I am still learning everyday. I am, like everyone here, also constantly trying to make my system sounded better.
Congratulations CK Gnoh, mighty system of yours is as impressive in sound as the looks! I see quite many upgrades since my last visit, AIME brand is quite an amazing products!

I did audition it. The AIME is a very good product indeed.
When I was there, one the reg asked what AIME stands for. Another reg quickly replied with a very funny name for it. Adrian himself also had a good laugh.
I have yet to organize my system. Once it is done, I might share it here.

Yah the gain is similar in both amps. Are you bi-amping the ProAc's? You might be better off getting something like the CAD-500MB to run the bass. Cheaper also ...

Gulp 2 pairs of 805AE... WOW. Congrats on the wonderful looking system. Do let me know if you want more permutations with the 6SN7, 300B and 211/845 with the amplifier. I have been through quite a number of them and have jotted down the results accordingly.
This is a must listen system.
Jo, did you try placing the amps on the floor instead of the rack? What is the material on the rack? May be able to get better bass performance from my experience with them.
Best wishes.

Thanks guys. Call me fickle minded. The first night was magic. Then, self doubt started to creep in again. I think over analyze liao. Got to relax & just concentrate on the music.
The Cary sounds wonderful if the recording is nice. If not, then very un nice.
The AR setup is more forgiving in this regard.
Also get the feeling the the AR DAC8 is a little glaring in the mids. This is especially evident in the AR setup. Previous setup with single driver speakers was ok leh. The Weiss Minerva sounded dull & lifeless in that old setup. Maybe can try in this new setup...
Oh dear, totally lost....
Regards,
Joe Ling
PS : I really need to spend the time to break-in the equipment before getting all bunched up. The old ref 5 sounded wonderful only after 800hrs...

Curiosity get the better part of me . I have very limited experience on valve amps. Only exposed to Audio Note OTO SE, Jadis, Roger (Yes, you read it right) and McIntosh.WongKN wrote:For your sake I hope you are talking about the Triangles.
After reading this article : http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/rdv/rdv_2.html , I am itching to know the result. Hope can test it out by this weekend.
Re: H4S Hi-Fi Gallery - The Fun Corner
Well as long as it is the Triangles, you should go ahead because an open mind, and more experience is priceless (to a limit of course, you can't be testing everything in the market and sometimes one might just want to sit back and enjoy the music). I hope you are not thinking of using the valves to drive the "other two" pairs.

I just want to gain more insight and knowledge on the difference in SQ for the Triangles when being driven by a SS amp and a valve amp. Of course, I can't be testing everything but at least I get first hand experience in it. Probably will buy an used decent valve amp to fiddle around.
The 'other two' pairs?! Haha... Forget about it. The valve amp is too risky to be used to do the task. Frying the amp is no issue but not the other 2 pairs especially the recently acquired pair. Wouldn't want the ex-owner to be in front of our door for destroying his beloved ex

esoteric x-03se cd player on finite elemente pagode rack. unfortunately my amp is too heavy and too big for this rack.
Pure power 2000.
with a big glass panel behind the curtain and the irregular shape, this corner is detrimental to the overall sound. the local make diffusers and auralex bass traps are only installed while listening to music and removed afterwards. the left speaker is about half feet more forward than my right one. right speaker is toed in around 10 degree more compare to the left one the get the correct imaging and sound stage.
Franck tchang ASI resonators. i have only 1 copper basic and 1 silver at the front wall. i have tried a few imitations (in term of shapes) but some how the effect is not as profound as the ori one.
Self made resonators using brass plate from harmonica hanging from ceiling. the effect is deeper sound stage. its final position is obtained after numeral attempts.

Lamkhocai...I thought the thing hanging from the ceiling is the remain of a 'cicak' after being struck by a rubber band ..
