Epic Twin is the result of combining elements of two of Chord's most popular cables, Odyssey and Signature. By taking the shielding system used on the Signature and adapting it to suit Odyssey, the Chord Company has been able to produce a speaker cable that combines the strengths of both cables.
Epic, like Odyssey, features two conductors each made up of 19 strands of silver-plated oxygen free copper conductors. Chord has always used multi strand conductors in their speaker cables but favour fewer, heavier gauge conductors over fine stranded rope weave designs. The overall diameter of each conductor is 2.5 mm. The two conductors which are twisted together are insulated by Teflon and then surrounded by a silicone jacket.
Epic has the addition of a dual shielding system applied to the outer silicone of Odyssey that is then surrounded with a special PVC jacket to further improve mechanical damping. The PVC jacket itself is extremely pliable and finished in a translucent grey with an overall diameter 15 mm for Epic Super Twin.

Chord Odyssey has a twisted pair construction with Teflon insulation and no outer sleeve in order to keep capacitance low, and maintain a consistently low dielectic constant. Each conductor consists of 19 0.045mm strands of oxygen free copper. These are heavily silver plated, as most of the signal travels on the conductors' surface.



Chord Odyssey speaker cable shares its principal design features with Chord Rumour.
Like Rumour, each conductor is made up of 19 strands of silver-plated oxygen free copper surrounded by Teflon insulation. However, the strands are of a heavier gauge and whereas Rumour uses 1.5mm overall diameter conductors, Odyssey uses 2mm overall diameter conductors.
The larger diameter conductors help Odyssey to carry dynamic information extremely well and this produces real improvements to the weight, attack and dynamic of notes across the entire frequency range. Cymbals are noticeably more realistic and acoustic guitars and pianos more lifelike; this ability to carry dynamic information so well means that Odyssey produces a remarkably musical and coherent sound. This, combined with Odyssey’s neutral tonality, helped it to win the Hi-fi News Best Speaker Cable award for five years in a row.

Chord Carnival Classic is an extremely compatible, do-it-all speaker cable that will work well with almost any level of hi-fi or home cinema system. Designed with performance in mind, Carnival Classic uses 1.8 mm diameter multi-strand, oxygen free copper conductors, arranged (like many Chord speaker cables) in a twisted pair configuration.


The larger diameter conductors lower resistance and the cable will perform well over long runs. The conductors are insulated with low density polyethylene insulation and covered with a white PVC outer jacket. Although only slightly larger than Leyline, Carnival Classic will help a system to produce a more dynamic, coherent and involving performance, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to get the best from a combined hi-fi and home cinema set up.


Carnival Classic can also be used with Chord Leyline, Classic being used to supply signal to the front three speakers and the more discreet Leyline connected to the rear speakers. This combination will really help a system that is used for both music and film to produce a properly involving performance.
