Arcam definitely sound different than most components, and have an ultra pleasing warmth and total absence of harshness or electronic ‘grundge’ sound. All the key electronic parts are of audiophile standard and are mounted on a single, through-hole-plated computer grade circuit board.

Two independently switched pairs of loudspeaker sockets and a headphones socket are included, so you can run two sets of speakers in separate rooms if required.
Finally, the bypassable limited range tone and balance controls allow you to fine tune the amplifier settings to suit your listening environment and system requirements. It is easy to add Audio-Video capability systems using the Alpha 9. It has properly buffered pre-amp out and power-amp in sockets, as well as two tape loops.
For optimum results we suggest you couple the Alpha 9 to an Arcam Alpha 9P integrated amplifier, using the 9P to drive the speaker's bass/mid-range units, whilst the integrated amplifier's original power amplifiers are retained to drive the treble units. A bi-amplified Alpha 9/9P combination sounds superb. Twin paralleled pairs of gold-plated input sockets allow the daisy chaining of extra power amplifiers and the easy parallelling of both channels when required. A headphones jack socket is also included.
The Alpha 9 integrated amplifier provides a natural sonic upgrade path for many home cinema amplifiers / receivers, including all Arcam models. It may also be matched to a wide variety of preamplifiers. The Alpha 9 can be used to increase your system’s available power or may be used to achieve outstanding results in bi-amplified or tri-amplified systems.
If you buy both of these amps (the Arcam Alpha 9 power amp and the Arcam Alpha 9 integrated amp) and want to Bi-Amp them, it is really a simple process. You do not need anything other than another pair of Interconnects to connect the two amplifiers, and a second set of speaker cables, and of course Bi-Amp capable speakers. Arcam advises to use the 9P to drive the woofers, and have the 9 Integrated drive the tweeters and midranges..
