Jteoh,
You've toe-d in the Cremona's by quite a bit... has that helped with soundstage.

rjdio,

My Cremona's around 8ft apart at the tweeters and my sweet spot also at same distance. Yes, toe-in is quite a lot at this near-field listening position to get a sharp focus of the central image on vocals. Anyways, this is still a work in progress...

Thanks guys. The road to Audio Nirvana is long & hard & almost no one gets there myself included. Through the years, I have learnt that I know very little & I am easily swayed by words from almost anybody especially the hifi salesman.

Anyway, lost my fever for a couple of years but got infected again somehow earlier this year. Now, I try not to be so anal & just relax in the music but still old habits die hard.

Say that Harbeth looks tempting...how about the Proacs, are they any good at all ? I liked what I heard...

Oh yes, don't forget the TT...

Hi Joe Ling

What tubes are those by the way? Didn't see Transcendant making one with those tubes. A type of older style pentodes?

They are still using the same type of tube but in Octal format. It's an EL509 or 6KG6

Well, I'm no expert. OTL means Output TransformerLess. Output impedance not so good. So, I'm kinda cheating by using an autoformer to bump up the impedance that the amp sees. Sounds nice.

Joeling, my own room is not that much better actually. I will freely admit that I cheated a bit when I took those photos of my system as I moved a lot of things to the side and behind me when I took the photos !! You obviously spent a lot of time tuning your system and room, I can see that with the amount of room treatment plus how you placed your system.

htkaki, currently no plans lar because it's that time of the year for 'spring cleaning' and I promised my wife this year that I will own the responsibility for a lot of things. So I will be busy this week. Next month would be possible. Perhaps a day trip on saturday ? Seremban back to my weekend house is not that long a distance anyway. Failing which of course CNY would be a good time for sure ! I will let you know next week.

What is good (food-wise) in seremban ar ? My friend says the beef noodle is good but I don't consume beef.

Wong KN,

I don't consume beef too. Wonder Foo want to tag along.

Just let me know in advance. Sat is ok for me. If CNY, it wld probably be at my new shop as I'll be moving all my current gears there since will be spending more time there than home.

At home, the old setup shall be revived again.

Had a guest at my place just now (01.01.10) Althought he is an audiophile, he did enjoy my HT setup.

My Humble Set Up,

Here's some pics of my humble set up for all to view or comments.Maybe dedicated to our Vinyl Guru, Mr Mugen Foo.I guess everbody noticed that he's a knowledgeable when comes to vinyl kind of stuffs.I was impressed from all his comments especially on technical part(and I can see his writting/comments everywhere if there's a topic on vinyl).I should called him Micheal Fremer of Malaysia.Not to mention his hifi set up pics (showing his Clearaudio Alignment Gauge ...and guess what?... its a Thorens TD150 c/w Thorens arm).I guess this alignment gauge main purpose is to be use for tt that using different type of arm(not the built in arm)maybe the cartidge align is useful.
Anyway my photos is self explanatory.Just to add,I owned 6 tt (Michel Orbe c/w SME V,Gyrodeck,Continuo,Lenco L75 and Thorens TD160 super).

Anyway, this weekend was super interesting. Managed to A/B certain components with some good hifi friends. Extremely valuable learning sessions on each equipment's own strengths and weaknesses.

It is a universal gauge that can be used for both stock/built-in arms and also swapped arms. Its ultimate reliability depends on the ability to accurately locate the centre pivot of the tonearm.

Hi Bro Mugen Foo,

U must be pulling my leg man!!!! I thought u have vast experience in analog/vinyl kind of stuffs. U really gave me a stomach ache due to laughing madly when u said that u don't know who's Micheal Fremer.What about Jonathan Scull,Jon Atkinson,Larry Archibald to name a fews.These guys are very well knowned and highly regarded as WORLD CLASS HIFI REVIEWERS.I wonder where that u get all your very informative comments from? So sorry bro, I'm not writting this to contradict your opinions.I might say that I praise for all your constructive comments.Anyway,I hope some would agree with me,playing vinyl really needs more than 6-10 years of experience.We can get the knowledge from the books but cannot totally apply pratically.Therefore years of experience is the best thing.Another thing is knowledge from analog I believe can only be gathered once you have experimenting more than 3 - 5 tt and it will takes years to have that kind of first hand experience.I hope u've seem my set up pics....all painstaking that I've been through for more than 10 years and still not dare enough to give comments in this forum.Just a "Food For Thought".Keep it up Mugen, u are brave young man and dare to comments.I like that.

OK .... looks like this thread is getting to be antagonistic.

Out of respect for a fellow moderator's previous request to keep things friendly in this thread, I shall not add fuel to this particular fire.

Although that photo with all that vintage Krell does look real nice. Too bad it's got such a negative tag attached to it.

Hazy, nice system ! Is that a Magneplan speaker I see at the corner ? What model is it ? Bi-wireable (hence the need for 2 set of Krells). One looks like a Stereo block, maybe KSA-200 ? The pair in the background is a monoblock, maybe MDA-160 ? Also looks a Krell preamp (looks like newer model) and a Krell CD player as well.

And it seems you say this is only the living hall set and you have a more hardcore set in a dedicated listening room. Tabik. Respect !

So, what's in the other system ?

Everyone, please avoid inflammatory posts here. Lets play a game here ... its called: " Guess that Krell ! "

OK ... Lets see:

CD-Player:
Preamp:
Monoblocks:
Stereoblock:
Speaker (ok, not a Krell but lets still make it part of the guessing game) :

My attempt:
CD player = KAV-250cd
preamp = KSL or pre-facelift KRC.
Monoblocks = MDA-300
Stereoblock = KSA-200S
Speaker = Maggie 3.something

@Hazy, Korrekt or not ?

OK ... Lets see:

CD-Player:
Preamp:
Monoblocks:
Stereoblock:
Speaker (ok, not a Krell but lets still make it part of the guessing game) :

My attempt:
CD player = KAV-250cd
preamp = KSL or pre-facelift KRC.
Monoblocks = MDA-300
Stereoblock = KSA-200S
Speaker = Maggie 3.something

@Hazy, Korrekt or not ?
