The preamplifier provides full control of all your audio equipment, an outstanding phono stage and the ability to dub between Tape-1 and Tape-2, and between Video-1 and Video-2.

Onkyo P-301 pre amp. I like the tone controls and especially the adjustable loudness control, which essentially seems to be centered @ 50hz and 10k. 3

Unlike normal loudness controls, which just turn on or off, this one is adjustable, a little or a lot. To me it's like a goose control....goosing flat recordings for a little more zing factor.

It beefs up most recordings w/o becoming muddy. It also has a 'source direct' button which bypasses the tone controls (and much of the internal circuitry) for a more direct path from source to pre-amp out, and you can switch that from the remote too, very cool. The volume control is a motorized Pot, not a VCA.

It is does have one set of controls for the eq. 1st the loudness control (on a adjustable pot), the bass which I think is a bell @ 100hz, and the treble which I think is a shelf @ 10k.
